CCSVI: a Venous Pathology on its own, independent and not a result of MS: incontrovertible results of a Study, just published on Phlebology. CCSVI (Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Inefficency) is a vascular disease which does not depend on Multiple Sclerosis.
These are the results of the Study made by a team of researchers, led by Professor Paolo Zamboni, at the "University of Ferrara".
The work, which has never been done before, has recently been published on Phlebology, Royal Society of Medicine magazine.
The research, named "Ultrastructure of internal jugular vein defective valves", is also the first published scientific Study, realized thanks to a co-financing by the Italian CCSVI in MS – NPO Association, that has always been fully committed in supporting Public and Independent Medical Research.
Intraluminal septums and/or faulty valves which obstruct the blood flow in the jugular vein of seven CCSVI patients, have been studied through a scanning electron microscope and then compared with healthy controls.
Internal jugular veins wall showed a significant disease of the endothelial function compared with healthy controls: in other words, no endothelial cells have been found in the faulty cusps.
A lack like that, which represent a further anomaly identified in the presence of Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Inefficency, indicate a serious vascular pathology.
As well as the existance of CCSVI, the research conducted by means of a bug, thus revealed a further fundamental data:
It is necessary to own an Imaging Technique, in order to be able to releave accurately the occurrence of this vascular pathology.
In conclusion, authors point out that their survey's results can't clarify whether the lack of endothelial cells is primary or caused by the progressive loss of endothelium, with relation to hemodynamic forces and/or to a gone by post thrombotic/inflammatory remodeling process.
CCSVI consists of expert specialists from over fifty countries and has been recognised as the Greatest International Organism in the vascular field, by the World Meeting of the International Union of Phlebology (UIP).
Italian CCSVI in MS Association NPO -through its past President Gisella Pandolfo and President Gabriele Reccia- expresses its esteem and gratitude to all the researchers, authors of the Study as well as its satisfaction for having been involved in the fulfilment of such an important and scientifically significant work.
All along, Italian CCSVI in MS Association NPO asks the Institutions for the Chronic Cerebrospinal Venous Inefficency to be recognised as a pathology on its own.
Today, we have a further reason to be certain about the issue.
